LENNY AYERS TAKES FIRST PLACE IN CHILI COOK OFF
Monument: Saturday, September 10, the downtown streets were filled with chili lovers. The Chili Cook Off was underway. The results are in, and of the 25 delicious entries, Lenny Ayers’ delectable submission took top honor. Coming in a close second, were Laura and Dirk Stamp of the Wine Seller, and third place was firmly held by Doug and Jennifer Ridsdel of Ridsdel Ranch. These were the judges choices, but the spectators had a different take or at the very least, taste, voting for Mountain View Electric to win the People’s Choice Award. This incredible event is held every year in downtown Monument by Katherine and Woody Woodworth of High Country Home & Garden, to raise money for the Tri-Lakes Cares Building Fund. 2-Watts Creative designed, created and donated the keepsake ceramic plates for the winners, and TriLakes Printing provided promotional material, while The Potty Man supplied the... well, you know. Judging was based on taste, aroma, texture and appearance. As one of the judges, I can honestly tell you it was difficult to decide. There were no bad submissions. If you enjoy chili, you would have enjoyed this event. In this writers opinion, everyone came out a winner, contestants and spectators alike. It was a veritable feast, and no one went home hungry or disappointed.
