RON AND DONNA ANDERSON
TRI-LAKES AREA REALTOR TEAM
ISSUE 1 - October 31, 2001
RON AND DONNA ANDERSON
TRI-LAKES AREA REALTOR TEAM
Resting in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, you'll discover the Tri-Lakes area. It's a special place that thrives on qualities that are genuine and real - it's beauty, it's natural setting, and it's people.
This is a place where people say hello as they pass you on the street, hold a door open for you and where nature provides a vast playground for children of all ages. It's a place where people enjoy starting their day with a run or bike ride, where the focus of their lives is on their families, and where people never ever feel the need to escape to another state. You can't help but love living in the Tri-Lakes area. It's really a great place to be.
Ron and Donna Andersen thrive on the special qualities of this area. Both came from different states and found their paradise here in Tri-Lakes. But it was more than their love of the outdoors, boating and family that they found in common. Rather, Ron and Donna each had long marriages and both lost a dearly loved spouse to cancer. Donna had just moved here when her husband passed away, and the community took her under their wings to care for her as they would a longtime resident. Ron moved here to find a better life for his children after their mother died. At first, Ron and Donna fell in love with the Tri-Lakes area, and after being set up on a blind date, they fell in love with each other.
The mutual admiration Ron and Donna have for each other shows in the strong household they have created with their four children, and in the way they work well together as a real estate team. They are Realtors who reflect the best qualities of the Tri-Lakes area - friendly, outgoing and dedicated to the community. They are real people with a real understanding of what's important to you - your family and your home. And that is how they get real results.
Even though Ron and Donna's similar attitudes and outlooks have made them click well together, they each bring to real estate their own distinctive qualities. Laidback, friendly and upbeat, Ron is a person who loves to laugh and finds humor is truly the best medicine. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoys fishing, skiing and taking his family camping. "We enjoy seeing the true beauty of Colorado up close," says Ron. His years of marketing and running his own companies brings a high level of business savvy to the Andersen real estate team. Ron develops the specific marketing strategies and employs cutting-edge technology in developing the plan to sell your home.
Warm, outgoing and a self-described romantic, Donna was previously an elementary school teacher and even wrote and published several romance novels under the pen name, Julia Hunter. "Writing romance novels was great dinner party conversation!" says Donna about her literary works. Her first husband was a military officer, and the family moved all over the U.S. and to different countries. These moves have brought a great amount of empathy to Donna's real estate work, as she knows firsthand how difficult a family move can be. She has managed several real estate offices, and has a strong understanding of industry standards, ethics and procedures. Donna is an excellent resource on all areas of real estate.
Ron and Donna Andersen are two professionals who think with their hearts as well as their heads. "We believe in the personal touch in our service, and enjoy the opportunity to meet and help people. We tend to details, call our clients constantly and celebrate with them at the successful completion of their transaction. That is the real joy of this business," they both proclaimed when asked what they enjoyed the most about their business. In closing, I must say, get to know them - it will be worth your while!

THE STONE MOUNTAIN TRADING POST
DEE BATES
ISSUE 2 - November 7, 2001
THE STONE MOUNTAIN TRADING POST
DEE BATES
The Stone Mountain Trading Post in historic downtown Monument, opened its doors July 3rd. The goal of the Trading Post is two fold: One, to provide an outlet for artists of all medias to display their work, and for individuals who may have a unique item or two that they may want to sell. Secondly, to create a friendly place to shop where there is something of interest for anyone and everyone. We want to offer our customers a variety of high‑end quality and unique collectibles or gift items. The overall theme of the Trading Post is to portray the Colorado Lifestyle of past and present, but not limited to that alone.
The Stone Mountain Trading Post is a consignment shop with a purpose. We believe that "Variety is the Spice of Life". In essence our goal is to create a shopping experience so that the Trading Post will be a "One Stop Shopping Spot". You purchase, we package. We will gift wrap and even ship items.
The Stone Mountain Trading Post is located at 213 N. Washington Street in the 1888 Postmaster's House. It is a cute little house with so much charm. The idea of having a unique consignment shop was something that Dee Bates has had for some time, and when driving by the Bear's Paw and seeing the `For Rent' sign in the window the desire became real. Dee, with her husband Lee and son John Engle owned a Guest Ranch in the San Juan Mountains for six years, but sold it in April. They all remained there through the summer to manage it and train the new owner. Dee was very active in the Del Norte Chamber of Commerce where she was President for three years. Dee and Lee purchased a home in Monument and moved here the end of September. Dee, an elementary teacher, started a Welcoming Service in Phoenix and later owned a Travel Agency in California for ten years. Nine years ago Dee, Lee and John moved to Colorado to be in "The Mountains" and to start a Guest Ranch. Now, a new and exciting endeavor is underway for Dee. She is an avid Flea Market and Garage Sale enthusiast, enjoys a variety of crafts such as stained glass, barb wire creations and her biggest downfall is having to pass by antique shops.
At the present time the Trading Post has a wonderful selection of gift items, additions for the home and many beautiful artist's works to choose from. Antiques and collectibles can be seen throughout the quaint Trading Post house. At the present time there are 32 Consignors who supply the Shop with a variety of unique items.
We want to carry on the old tradition of assisting the customer! Therefore, we have instituted two special services that might be of interest. The first is a "Referral Registry" Bulletin Board where someone who wants to sell an item that might be too large to be in our little shop, takes a picture of it, puts it on the Registry Bulletin board with some details and cost. If a customer comes in and is interested, they will be directed to the seller. Commissions will be the same as with the Trading Post consignments. The second service we provide is the Stone Mountain Wish List, which is a book where a customer writes down an item or two that they are looking for, but unable to find. If an item fitting that description comes in, the customer will be called.
If consignors wish, they may put their item(s) on the Trading Post website, which of course will bring them great exposure. There would be a small fee, but the results could be phenomenal.

She says, "I love being in business in Monument, we get to really know our customers, something you can't do in a bigger city. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank my hard working employees and our customers. They're the best, and Petal Pushin' wouldn't be here without them!
