JOY What is joy? How does one get to that place? Many people assume joy is a certain level of happiness regarding particular events in their lives. For example, one may feel joy at the birth of a child or grandchild. One may feel joy at watching a graduation ceremony or a wedding. These situations are valid, but does enjoying particular events equate to true joy? True joy is where ones have determined their pathway in this life, are understanding their pathway, and are living their pathway with enjoyment. It is where ones know who they are, why they are alive, and they choose to live-not endure or survive, but to live. When people think of surviving, their minds can gravitate towards current economic survival or the Great Depression. While these two examples are legitimate examples of survival, they can be extreme. Another example of survival can be ‘making it through the day, month or year. ‘Making it through’ is not enjoyment; it is surviving. For ones to enjoy life, they need to be taught how to enjoy life the same way one enjoys delicious food. One can create a beautiful meal that is balanced and enjoy every bite and every taste it has to offer. Or one can throw food together to sustain an energy level out of necessity and move on. It is all about choice. What have the choices been? What is the belief system that keeps patterns in place? A belief is a thought pattern and is not to necessarily to be associated with religion, though religion can play a role. What has been the overall pattern? If ones want to learn how to make new choices, ones must learn what their beliefs are that are in contradiction to their heart. A belief can be a perception you hold within your mind regarding how you need to live your life according to standards and rules that were created for you. A belief can be a perception about your self and your worth as a person and often times this belief was adopted from the parent or parents. A Tai Yi exercise/treatment that can assist with this is Lost Heart. Lost Heart addresses belief systems/patterns that create difficulty. If people understood how energy works, they would not empower anxiety and/or depression. Beliefs keep the difficulty in place and can create a chemical imbalance in the brain. This exercise is for people who have lost sight of own heart, feelings, empowerment, and/or knowingness. It creates sensitivity so they are more aware of the beliefs that are in contradiction to their heart. Choice is key ingredient in releasing a belief. The person can ask for a choice to be presented after the exercise. Tami Urbanek ISSUE 428
SEASONAL CHANGES Many are aware of SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) and other ailments that can be common in the winter season. With few hours of sunshine and even fewer hours of being outside in the sun, for many of us, we can feel the symptoms of low or sluggish energy levels and/or mild depression in some cases. Very easy ways to remedy this is to spend more time in the sun when possible (and when not at risk of extreme temperature exposure), exercise, adequate sleep, and making appropriate changes to the diet, as well as bringing in natural light into the home, office, and/or room. Some are not aware, however, that for every season there are guidelines that are beneficial to follow. When we follow the guidelines, we can experience a shift in how we are responding to the natural changes of the earth and in essence benefiting from those changes. People can benefit in the winter by following these guidelines: eating root vegetables, adding warming spices, deep stretching, not over-exercising, and deep reflection. Winter is a time of reflection and determining energy levels for new projects a person may take on in the spring and/or summer. It is a time to look at one’s level of passion for life and for work. Spring is a good time for beginning new projects, rather than winter. It is very important to drink plenty of water during winter and one can benefit from adding a bit of lemon juice to the water to aid in absorption. In addition, if one is drinking, what seems like plenty of water, and is not feeling the effects of hydration, try adding a bit (one teaspoon) of apple cider vinegar to one glass of 8 ounces of water. This will assist. Also, avoiding refined sugar when possible will greatly benefit. Eating too much sugar can dehydrate the body and dehydration can, and usually will, effect depression. A Tai Yi (pronounced Tie Yee) exercise/treatment that can help with winter and the other three seasons is Earth Core Balance. Earth Core Balance is for assisting in balancing the body with the earth changes. It will also assist in feeling passion. Passion is critical to creating new changes in life and creating new projects in work. Americans, as a whole, lack in feeling of passion, whereas, Europeans typically feel more passion. Ones’ level of passion is usually associated with their level of joy. Tami Urbanek ISSUE 429
ANXIETY OF LOVE Love. How do we express it? What does it feel like? To whom do we offer it? How many fear it? In my work, I have worked with many who fear love and who say to me, “how do I know I have it when I don’t know what it feels like?” While many may not have this extreme of a reaction towards love, some do struggle with feeling love for and from others out of fear of being hurt; whether that is love of one’s own child or love of another person. We know we have a fear of love when we sabotage relationships. We may say we want a relationship, but we do not attract one or when we do, we sabotage it. Then only way to heal this is to look at the pattern. What have the choices been and what have the outcomes been? Where did the person learn the pattern to sabotage and why is there a fear of unconditional love? A person may ask, “why would I fear unconditional love when I want a relationship?” Another way to look at it is: if you want one, why haven’t you created one? Many times, people fear unconditional love because they may not have bonded with their parent or parents. This can create a fear of being left, betrayed, and can create anger. One Tai Yi treatment that can assist with the anxiety of love is Anxiety of Love. Anxiety of Love is a treatment for people who fear relationships and say they want one but do not attract one. It may be that the person attracts many short-term relationships rather than long term loving relationships. This exercise is also good for new parents, whether they are having biological child/children or adopting. This exercise can be done during pregnancy. It can assist in understanding the source of the fear, thereby giving the person power to change it. Tami Urbanek ISSUE 430
LACK OF MENTAL FOCUS How much stress is your brain under? How often do you stay in the beta brain wave rather than shifting to an alpha or theta brain wave? Remembering to relax is essential in our daily lives and the lack of relaxation plays a role in creating health difficulties. High blood pressure, lack of circulation, low physical immune system, headaches, backaches, strained muscles, weak lungs, and ulcers among other ailments are associated with a person who functions in a consistent high stress level without taking the time to relax. Many may understand that they are functioning under high stress and feel unable to shift it. They may also feel like they have a fog surrounding their brain to where focus begins to become more difficult. The person may find him or herself participating in a pattern that is destructive mentally, emotionally, and/or physically and may not understand how to stop the pattern. In order to stop a pattern, one must look at the source of the pattern. When did it begin? Many times, it began at an early age. From whom did the person pick up the pattern? Many times it was ‘inherited’ from a parent/s, other adults within the family unit, or sibling/s. Then, the person needs to look at how he or she empowers the pattern. What thoughts that are generated within the mind empower the pattern time and again. If the person has fogginess and lack of focus, it may be difficult to discern from where the pattern came and how it evolved. For this issue, I recommend Brain Purge. Brain Purge cleanses the energy in the brain so that the brain sends and receives signals with more clarity. If one has a pattern of self-punishment, the brain will create thoughts and actions that empower self-punishment. Brain purge brings up ‘stuff’ as it is purging out ‘fogginess’. It brings clarity to the person regarding life and choices in order to make new choices and create new outcomes. Tami Urbanek ISSUE 431
PICKING UP OTHERS' BAD MOODS? Do you ever find yourself in an environment where many of the individuals are in a bad mood, complaining, depressed, or simply angry? What happens to your mood as a result? Do you begin feeling the effects of being in that environment? Perhaps the environment is a work meeting, a group of friends, a group of associates, home, or even a party setting. Perhaps you have noticed that it appears easier for you to pick up on those feelings from others or you know someone who does so. This is called absorbing energy. Energy is all around us. Most people are familiar with ‘physical’ types of energy, such as electricity or machines that produce electricity. Scientists can measure energy and we can talk about our own energy levels in terms of how active or depleted we may feel. Our emotions and thoughts are also energy producing waves that others can pick up on and absorb. Have you, as an adult or a child, walked into the middle of two people’s argument? Perhaps they stopped arguing the moment you walked in, but you could still feel the energy of the argument, the anger or frustration. One can walk into a happy environment and feel the joy as well. Can you pick up on someone’s mood even if they attempt to cover it up? Picking up on someone’s mood can also be done through observing body language, but not just body language. One needs to feel deeply to identify different energies (i.e. anger, frustration, joy, fear, excitement) when it is not being expressed through body language. I recently had someone who had scheduled an appointment over the phone to discuss certain issues. Immediately, I brought up depression without her saying anything in the beginning of the conversation. She replied, “what? I wear a very good mask; no one knows I am depressed! I hide it from everyone! I cannot believe you could pick up on that.” Feeling is good. But, you need to be aware of what are feeling to determine if it is energy that has been absorbed or your own feelings. When you absorb energy from an environment or a specific individual (such as partner child, or friend), you may not feel the effects of it until within three days to one week. Many times you may not make the connection because too much time has passed. Then you may wonder, “Why am I suddenly feeling this way?” A Tai Yi exercise that can assist with this is River of Mud. River of Mud is for individuals who absorb ‘crappy’ energy. It strengthens the meridians in the body to assist ones in not absorbing someone else’s energy. This is good for those who work with the public, kids in school, and kids in daycare. This is also good for ones who have gone through an abusive energy AND have left the abusive environment. CAN SOMEONE HEAL YOU? Can someone heal you? The short and simple answer is NO. It is impossible to heal an individual because the individual has to be willing to heal and has to be willing to do the work of healing. Assistance can be offered to someone who wants to heal, but someone else cannot heal another person. Healing someone places the responsibility on the healer, rather than the individual who is seeking to heal. There are healers who proclaim to heal people. It is important to be aware of such statements. Someone who proclaims to heal people is taking the responsibility for a person’s healing. This is a form of control, though many do not recognize it as such. Many recognize ‘control’ as more overt and manipulative. While control is manipulative, many times it is covert. Attempting to control someone would need to be covert if it were to continue. If the control were obvious, the person being manipulated would probably stop allowing it. If a healer states he or she can ‘heal you’, take precaution. One would need to look at the intent of the healer. A true healing ONLY comes from the individual seeking to heal. “That which was…is…until understood and healed.” Jonah. Meaning: an issue does not simply ‘go away’ on its own or because someone took it away. It remains until understood and healed. Tai Yi is an ancient Chinese form of alternative healing using specific exercises/treatments that can ASSIST with healing. Tai Yi (pronounced Tie Yee) means supreme movement or supreme balance and is similar to acupuncture. In fact, acupuncture is a form of healing that is the result of Tai Yi. Tai Yi is a very powerful healing modality that can assist one in resolving issues around a low immune function, stress, depression, memories, anger, fear, and many other ailments. Tai Yi consists of 4,000 exercises. Each exercise is set up through a grid system on the body that is aligned with pressure points and meridians on the body. A Tai Yi practitioner then sends Universal Energy into the same pressure points. The pressure points direct where the energy flows within the body. The person receiving the treatment MUST allow the energy and MUST use the energy after the treatment. Otherwise the treatment was a waste of time and money. This places the healing responsibility onto the person seeking assistance, rather than the healer. When the person seeking assistance takes full responsibility for healing, the depth of healing that occurs is very deep. Tami Urbanek ISSUE 434
LOST LOVE Love is a powerful motivator and can become painful for some of us. Many people grew up with loving parents, but some did not. Some had parents who tried to love, but were perhaps not taught love themselves by their own parents. As a child, we either learn how to love by example and by how we were treated as a child, or we were taught that love is painful and should be avoided. If a child was taught that love is painful, whether that teaching was straight-forward or more by example, then the child often times grows into an adult who does not understand how to attract love or loving relationships. The symptoms of this would be an adult who makes the statement, “I want love”, but that person may push away opportunities for love or may sabotage what could have become a healthy relationship. The person’s symptoms would also be a lot of self-judgment, self-criticism, self-doubt, and self-sabotage. These symptoms create pain again and again. The person may recognize the symptoms and may try to stop the symptoms, but to no avail. Because, it has become such a pattern, but also, one does not heal an issue by working on the symptom, one heals an issue by working on the issue. In this case, the person has not been taught unconditional love and therefore may not recognize it or have any for her or himself. One needs to carry unconditional self-love (not arrogance or ego) to attract it. Like energy attracts like energy. A Tai Yi (pronounced Tie Yee) exercise that addresses this issue is Lost Love. Lost Love is for people who have forgotten how to love and they push away and misinterpret ‘taking care of’ for love. Most people do not understand that ‘love’ energy of heart chakra is gold. Gold light is highest vibrational light-no gold light that can be duplicated that matches actual gold light. People want to hold onto external experience when they think of love. This exercise is for ones who want to feel and understand their ability to love, to really understand the difference between taking care of and love. People place blocks to deny same thing they say they want and go in a different direction. Mass consciousness is denial of love. True essence of love is not fully understood. Those who have tendency to push away opportunities and are not aware are ones good for this exercise. In ones’ mind/emotions there will have markers and once they reach that marker, they prepare for next level. Some markers are presented once only-some are presented multiple times. Tami Urbanek ISSUE 435
SOUL BLOCK Is it easy for you or someone you know to create excuses for the ‘way you/they are’, while at the same time, the choices and patterns create pain? It can be easy for the mind to play games and to trick one into believing nothing will change for the positive and ‘this’ is just the way it is. That type of excuse can create a block in creativity and can create a negative ego. Negative ego is another expression for fear. A negative ego is where one boasts he or she is better than another. A negative ego can also create lies and manipulation in order to keep the mask up that ‘life is great’, when in fact, there is anger, depression, and/or fear. When individuals have blocked creativity, they will also try to copy others’ creativity. They will look for what other’s are doing within the work environment and/or home environment or in regards to abilities, and say “I want that…I will do what they are doing and get the same outcome”, not realizing other factors involved. The intent is the building block to the outcome. When one tries to create something with the intent of just copying what someone else has or has done, the outcome will create pain. The other side is if one attempts to create a new project/relationship/income/status/work with the intent of using one’s own creativity, the outcome can be very positive. Tai Yi can assist ones with this difficulty if the person has recognized it and is ready to find and express their own creativity. Soul Block is a Tai Yi exercise/treatment for ones who have a wall that separates the mind from soul knowing and have created deep excuses for why they are in life. It is for those who have suppressed creativity so they copy others and try to teach something they have not learned themselves. Also, it is for ones who have recognized their negative ego and want to fulfill their own pathway in life. Tami Urbanek ISSUE 436
SEASONAL CHANGES: SPRING IS UPON US! Many are aware of SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) and other ailments that can be common in the winter season. In the meantime, spring is just around the corner and brings warmer temperatures, new ideas, and more opportunities to begin new projects or to expand current projects. For every season there are guidelines that are beneficial to follow that will add benefit to the currents season. When we follow the guidelines, we can experience a shift in how we are responding to the natural changes of the earth and in essence benefiting from those changes. People can benefit in the spring by following these guidelines: adding carbohydrates slowly, adding exercise, and beginning new projects. Spring is a wonderful time to begin new projects as well as learning new things. Spring is about renewal. If one is pondering about learning a different language, a new subject, or improving an ability, spring is the time to begin. A Tai Yi (pronounced Tie Yee) exercise/treatment that can help with spring and the other three seasons is Earth Core Balance. Tami Urbanek ISSUE 438
PUNISHMENT Many cultures and traditions teach that punishment is mandatory in order to raise a child and to teach right from wrong. Many of us were taught that punishment is normal and expected, not just in childhood, but in adulthood as well. Many of us were also taught that with the absence of punishment, we would have a chaotic society and disrespectful children who grow up to break laws and to hurt others. The question to ask is: do we not already have that, while punishment has been used for ages? Many religions also teach that punishment is to be feared after death if we do not live our lives according to a certain standard. Many are taught the need to fear a punishing God. What does this belief of punishment create other than people living in fear, while at the same time, suppressing individuality and creativity? In my experience, it has only created people living in fear and suppressing creativity and individuality. Even if one chose to leave a religion, he or she can still carry punishment within the body, mind, and emotions. In raising children, consequences and punishment are two different concepts. Punishment comes with the energy of anger. It places shame on a child who may grow up with depression, self-sabotage, anger, and resentment. Some may have suppressed for so long and experienced depression for so long, it feels normal, and they may not acknowledge there is depression. They may say, ‘pain is normal and expected.’ While pain can be a consistent part of life, it is not normal. Consequences are outcomes of choices. A consequence can look similar to a punishment, but it does not have the anger attached to it…or the judgment. Delivering or allowing consequences can teach there are always outcomes to choices. It does not teach fear unless the person delivering the consequence turns it into punishment. In my work, I have worked with many who fear healing an issue because if they do, they may receive punishment from ‘someone’. Though, this fear can be illogical, it does exist. It sabotages healing an area on one’s life. Someone who was punished as a child, again and again, usually carries anger, resentment, and depression. A Tai Yi exercise that works with this issue is Punishment Syndrome. Punishment Syndrome is for ones who were punished and they hold onto the consciousness of punishment. That energy of punishment lodges within the meridians and it punishes the body-organs, glands, skeletal system, and emotions. The exercise opens up whatever has been restricted. For many, punishment is so automatic, they are not even aware of it. The person receiving the treatment may feel more energy and become more aware of self-punishment. This exercise is recommended for ages 7-8 and older. Tami Urbanek ISSUE 439
SPIRIT WEAVER During this time of economic uncertainty, people looking for relationships, attempting to heal current and past relationships, entering into a new career or education, and raising families, people can easily feel stress and the effects of stress. Some perceive that a certain level of stress can be helpful in facilitating movement forward and also in facilitating the decision making process. At the same time, too much stress can lead to negative effects on the body. A person’s body holds information in regards to how the mind has been operating. Many see this with too much stress and the results of too much stress. If the mind has continued to operate in a beta brain wave and the person does not shift the brain wave to an alpha or a theta brain wave, the body will show the results in certain physical ailments. Some effects of too much stress can be hair loss, skin irritations, headaches, backaches, lack of focus, and issues with eyesight. One reason people may feel under stress is that they may be feeling separated from their own pathway, their own knowingness. Their minds may be so wrapped up in serving others, meeting others’ needs, and neglecting their own lives that they feel separated from themselves and feel under stress. They may attribute the stress to certain activities, responsibilities, or relationships, but the question to ask is ‘why did I create a situation that keeps my stress level high? What choices do I continue to make that prevents me from living passionately and joyfully?’ One Tai Yi exercise/treatment that can assist with this is Spirit Weaver. Spirit Weaver is for those who are under stress and feel separated from their own knowingness (heart). They have also been easily influenced away from their heart; perhaps there has been influence for them to take part in the caretaker role. Falling into the caretaker role can lead ones to neglect their own needs. This exercise weaves the ‘bodies’ together. It brings together the emotional, mental, and spiritual parts, connects them, and strengthens the meridians. It can assist in bringing strength to the person who feels lacking in strength. Tami Urbanek ISSUE 440
FEELING STUCK? Many individuals are searching for answers in their emotional, mental, and physical growth. Some will travel from one person to another sometimes to find the correct answer and sometimes to find the answer they want to hear. For some, healing can be a difficult journey and for some it can be a joyful journey. What makes the journey to heal a joyful journey? CHOICE We all have free will choice to heal or to not heal. It can be that simple. Many will question, “How do I make that choice? I can say I want to heal without pain, but I still have pain!” There can be several reasons as to why ones choose a painful pathway instead of a joyful pathway even when their conscious minds state they want the joyful pathway. Tai Yi energy work can assist with understanding WHY a person continues to make a choice that creates an outcome of pain or stagnation. Stagnation is the feeling of being stuck, almost like being stuck in thick mud. Physical and emotional symptoms can be low energy levels, lack of focus, chronic pain, low desire for enjoyment, and also feeling like it is ‘impossible’ to heal. Stagnation can be the feeling of fog in one’s head. Tai Yi works with the meridians of the body to assist in moving stagnate energy, increase the natural movement of energy, brings up the deep issues that tend to stay suppressed, eases chronic pain, creates a feeling of lightness, increases the physical immune system, among others. If you feel you are in a situation of stagnation or you know one who is, the Tai Yi exercise River of Energy may be of benefit. River of Energy works to convert stagnant energy into productive energy. This is good for those who 'gave up' and created depression, chronic pain, and mental pain. This can assist with re-creating opportunities and can assist in turning a negative experience into a positive one and helps one to take action. If one is in a suppressive environment, this can assist one in leaving that environment. Tai Yi practitioners can be found around the United States and Europe. A list of Tai Yi practitioners can be found on www.jonahlifeinstitute.com. All Tai Yi practitioners MUST have a sealed certificate with their most current grade/score. Tami Urbanek ISSUE 441
FUZZY BRAIN? Many use the words brain and mind interchangeably. However, the two words are separate. We use our brain to carry out functions within the body and parts of the brain hold memories and behaviors. We use our mind to hold onto beliefs, thoughts, feelings, memories, and to form choices and behaviors. The mind is a powerful tool that can create joy or deny joy in our lives. Our mind can work in accordance with our survival techniques. For example, if a traumatic event happened at a young age or even adolescence, the person may suppress it completely to the point that the person carries NO memory of the event at all. The mind would do this out of survival. The person can hold onto the fear that if the memory were to surface, it would create so much pain that it would feel unbearable. However, suppression does carry consequences. If we are suppressing information and/or memories, it creates a slow response from the brain. The chemicals in the brain will no longer be produced and utilized at an appropriate level. This will result in a depression and one may feel the need to medicate with prescription medications or self-medicate through substance abuse. If one is suppressing memories, he or she may suffer from headaches, in addition to depression. The depression can be mild or severe and some may carry the depression for so long, they no longer know they are depressed…until the depression is lifted they and feel the difference. Another consequence of suppression is holding toxins in the body and the brain. The toxins can get in the way of clear thinking, using common sense, and understanding the real issues that need to be addressed. In addition, the depression can create a feeling of hopelessness and lack of direction. The depression covers up the fear and possibly the anger. The fear and the anger can get in the way of identifying one’s true purpose and passion for life. It also can get in the way of the person fulfilling his or her passion. One Tai Yi exercise/treatment for this issue is Stagnant Pond of the Brain. Stagnant Pond of the Brain utilizes Rosemary Oil under the nose to assist with the treatment. The treatment will assist with the brain, memories, headaches, suppressed abuse, and slow responses from the brain. It also helps cleanse toxins by purging the brain and assists ones who may lack common sense. The Tai Yi practitioner can assist the individual with understanding the information that will surface with this exercise. Tami Urbanek ISSUE 442
SELF-DECEPTION Spring is here with many new possibilities! Make this season, the season of renewal for you: physically, mentally, and emotionally. This is the time to let go of the old baggage you may have been carrying around and embrace change and healing. Letting go of old baggage can seem scary, since the old baggage can represent familiarity and, in some cases, comfort. Truly letting go of old baggage (self-beliefs, patterns, sabotage) is a new choice. We know we have made a new choice when we see the results of new choices. We see change in our physical reality and in our emotional, mental, and spiritual selves. On occasion, I have a people arrive for a Tai Yi session that want to hear how much they have grown and healed already. In many people, this is not the case. Yes, there may have been growth in some areas, but ones need to look at what they are holding onto in order to really heal the issues that are stubborn. I hear some people say, “I do not understand why I still have this issue! I worked on it again and again!” In that example, the working may have been in going through the motions, not really resolving anything. Also, the person may deceiving him or herself. I will use myself as an example. At a young age, 18 years old, I chose to marry and have a child. I quickly divorced my husband when I realized, after my daughter was born, that he would not change his patterns of anger and abuse. He did not want to. Looking back, I can see how I remained stagnant for a few more years, attracting the same angry people to me and allowing myself to be disrespected, while also disrespecting myself. During my early adult years, I did not understand why I was attracting the same people to me. I was in denial. I was using self-deception. At the age of 22, I made drastic changes in my life. I ended toxic relationships and learned to love myself and to offer compassion to myself. I continued to grow, heal, and to learn how to communicate more effectively with others. One Tai Yi exercise/treatment that addresses self-deception is Live Energy of Deceit. Live Energy of Deceit is for those who lie and deceive themselves. If ones receive this exercise and lie to themselves, the energy becomes stronger and very difficult to ignore. It will bring up the self-deception strongly IF they want to work. This treatment is good for those who say, “I don’t understand why I still have this issue.” One can go into such a habit and go into regret that they still have the issue and then try to deny they have the issue. This is a clear sign they have not worked on that issue. When one chooses to heal and to do the work of healing, regardless of how uncomfortable it may seem, then that one is saying, "I am worth it and I deserve to heal." That is a powerful statement when it is said physically, emotionally, and mentally. Tami Urbanek ISSUE 443
HEALING AN ISSUE Many people are aware of their issues or difficulties, but lack an understanding of how to heal them. Some may say, “I know I have anger or depression, but how do I resolve it without medication or substances?” Healing an issue does take work, but many perceive it as difficult work or painful work. It never has to be a painful journey. When a person has held onto an issue for many years, it can seem daunting to ever get to the source of the issue to let it go. The mind can play games and the person can form thoughts that state, “Healing this issue will never happen. I have gone to therapy and I have tried medication and none of it really works.” The first part of the statement is a false statement. Healing an issue is possible, but what happens many times is that the person works on the symptoms, rather than the cause. If one simply works on the symptom, he or she will just work (as in going through the motions) on the symptom, never feeling relieved permanently. If the person works on and resolves the cause, he or she will resolve the cause and the symptoms. One area to really focus on is belief systems. Many people perceive a belief system as positive and about values. Rather, a belief system is a collection of thought forms that creates an imbalance. It creates an imbalance between the heart knowingness and the mind. The heart knowingness holds love and compassion. The mind holds onto painful belief systems. The collection of thought forms usually revolves around perceptions about oneself and those perceptions create disharmony. When a person acts through the belief system, it creates pain. One example of a belief system is: “I am not worthy of unconditional love (for whatever reason).” Another thought form in a belief system is “No one will love me and I must be saved.” This type of thought form creates a victim mentality and places the power outside the individual. After one looks at his or her belief system, then that one should ask what is the investment? What is the hook that keeps one in denial of self-empowerment and self-love? One must ask why do I want to keep this destructive belief system? A Tai Yi exercise that can assist with this is Code of Death. Code of Death is for allowing a death and a rebirth. It is allowing the old painful issues to be released, releasing the hook. Painful issues are present because of beliefs, rather than knowingness. Destructive beliefs cause pain mentally, emotionally, and physically. This treatment goes into the meridians and assists in removing the fog to allow clarity to the painful belief systems in order to work on healing them. One must be honest about their destructive belief systems before they can heal them. Tami Urbanek ISSUE 444
FOURTH POWER Occasionally, I encounter an individual who has been working on his or her healing and I see the results of that work. In one or more discussions, the person has identified negative and dysfunctional belief systems/patterns/fears-and the source of those, identified how he or she has empowered those dysfunctional patterns, identified how to make new choices, and HAS made new choices. A person who has worked and healed significantly has placed much emphasis on his or her life and has created priorities that are aligned with the heart and mind. That person understands and LIVES commitment, compassion, and passion. A person who demonstrates this level of understanding and healing has worked towards joy and peace within him or herself. The result is harmony in life and relationships. Healing takes work and the outcome is worth it. The person who is healing has identified the fact that he or she is worth it. He or she understands what a quality life is worth and works towards achieving it even if uncomfortable memories and uncomfortable understanding needs to occur. No one needs to attach him or herself to a particular religion or teaching in order to heal. However, there is a sequence of events that do need to occur to heal: search (within self), identify, understand, and resolve or let go of the issue. Within this sequence, forgiveness of self and others many times is required, as well, in order to move forward and to let go. Many times, when ones have worked significantly at healing, they desire more understanding and learning. They have searched, identified, and let go of an issue and now desire more awareness of life and themselves. A Tai Yi exercise/treatment for ones who desire more understanding and healing is called Fourth Power. Fourth Power assists ones to awaken to a 4th Dimensional level of consciousness. This is for those who have healed an issue or a belief and they desire for deep search of the unknown self. It will assist in the dream state to make it profound. This treatment is in FOUR parts. It can be done between four days apart to three months apart. The optimal interval is one week apart. For ones to receive the most benefit from a treatment needs understand the following guidelines. 1. The practitioner must set the grid points (similar to acupuncture) correctly and in the correct order. 2. The practitioner must send 100% UNIVERSAL energy. 3. The person receiving the treatment needs to be accepting all of the energy. When these three points occur, the healing is very deep. All practitioners working on the public must have a sealed and signed certificate. Tami Urbanek ISSUE 445
FEELINGS Most people have the ability to feel, but not all individuals allow themselves to feel. There can be many factors involved in the decision for a person to shut down the feeling state. Family structure or dynamic, childhood abuse and/or neglect, and society expectations are among some sources of suppressing feelings. In some family units, it is not acceptable to share feelings, aspirations, or desires. In some families, pathways have already been chosen for the child by the parent/s and it is expected that the child will grow into an adult and follow that pathway. Any desire on the child’s part to leave or avoid that pathway may then be shut down. This will also shut down the child’s creativity and feelings. The child may think that he or she does not have a voice, so why bother saying anything? In some people’s childhood, abuse was present. Whether it was mental, verbal, spiritual, physical, or sexual abuse does not matter. The energy of abuse within the family can, and many times will, shut down the child’s feelings. The child will choose to shut down his or her own feelings out of survival. The child thinks that it is simply easier to hide feelings than be punished for them. Unfortunately, in some abuse cases, the need to survive is stronger than the need to feel. However, as an adult, that can change. The child can grow into an adult who simply decides he or she wants to feel again and wants to learn to love. That can be a remarkable step for some. Depending on location in our American society, some people are taught not to search feelings or ask too many questions. Some are taught to simply ‘do as told’ and meet one’s obligations. Whether that obligation expectation is raising a family, earning an income, or entering into a certain profession. Those individuals may feel like a fool for searching too much or feeling too much, so they may shut feelings down out of desiring acceptance and looking for approval. These are only a few examples of why one would shut down feelings and become numb and simply move through life in automatic motion. When ones desire to stop surviving and to start living, one of the first steps is to start feeling. When one begins to feel again, he or she can then start searching, asking questions, gaining clarity, and identifying additional steps to heal. One Tai Yi treatment for this is called Intelligence of Feel. Intelligence of Feel is a psychological treatment and is good for those who need and desire assistance in the energy of feeling, more deeply understanding those feelings, and the source of those feelings. Many attempt to separate or compartmentalize feelings. All this does is suppress, compress-which turns to anger, fear, and depression. This works with the mind to better understand feelings. REMOVING THE SNAKE Have you or someone you know suffered from depression? Depression can become a very serious issue for individuals, especially when their mind and emotions take them to a dark place that may feel impossible from which to escape. Depression does not simply ‘just happen’. Depression is caused, but many individuals attempt to work on the symptoms of the depression. Low levels of energy, loss of appetite or increase of appetite that is not healthy, hair loss, low immune system, low desire for enjoyment, a tendency to dwell on dark issues and not move out of that are some symptoms of depression. If a person discovers the cause of depression and works on the cause, rather than the symptoms, results can shift to a more positive outcome. Before mental and/or emotional depression can occur, one must SUppress, then COMpress, then DEpress. It works in this order. So, the individual must work on what was suppressed in the first place. That may require some self-searching and questioning if the person is not already very aware of the reason for depression. Some people are aware of their depression and some have been depressed for so long, for example since childhood, that it has become a very normal feeling. The person may feel “off” and not know why, as well. Perhaps one grew up in a depressed household, and a joyful experience was not the norm. Anger, depression, and fear can become family traditions that were passed down from generation to generation. In this example, the person can still examine what was suppressed, but it will take deep questioning. Sometimes, depression occurs because the child was taught to suppress individuality and creativity. The person who is depressed will need to search, but that person may need assistance in the searching. He or she may need assistance in bringing in clarity and bringing the “not so obvious” to the conscious mind in order to work with it effectively. A Tai Yi treatment/exercise for this is called Removing the Snake. Removing the Snake brings clarity to what is wrong that is causing mental and emotional compression. The person may feel off and he or she may feel off in multiple areas of his or her life, not just one. It brings the issue to the conscious mind in order for the person to identify a new choice and then make the new choice. It brings awareness, it will not “just heal” the depression on its own. Snake symbolizes deception and wisdom. The person will need to ask, “Am I deceiving myself?” Symbolically, the exercise brings the snake to life and the person uses the snake as wisdom to heal whatever is not working. Tami Urbanek |
